# Front, Middle & Back Office on One Staffing Platform

Every staffing business operates across three functional layers — front, middle, and back office. In most firms, these layers run on separate systems. Data gets re-entered, errors multiply, and cash collection slows down because the people who bill clients are waiting on data from the people who placed workers. 2cloudnine eliminates that pattern by running all three offices on a single Salesforce data model.

## The three-office model in staffing

    **Client- and candidate-facing functions.** Your front office covers business development, client relationship management, job order intake, candidate sourcing, placements, and worker onboarding. This is where revenue commitments are made and commercial terms are set.

  <Card title="Middle office" icon="arrows-left-right">
    **The operational bridge.** Your middle office connects front and back. It manages risk, compliance, worker onboarding, timesheet collection, exception handling, and operational oversight — ensuring that what was agreed at placement is executed correctly before it reaches payroll.

  <Card title="Back office" icon="building-columns">
    **Non-client-facing operations.** Your back office manages payroll, billing, invoicing, HR administration, and financial reporting. It depends entirely on the accuracy and completeness of data from the front and middle office.

## The problem with disconnected systems

Most staffing firms have built their operations by adding tools over time — a CRM for the front office, a compliance tool or ATS for the middle office, and a payroll or ERP system for the back office. Each addition solves an immediate problem but creates a longer-term one.

* **Data re-entry** — the same worker, placement, and rate information is entered multiple times across systems, multiplying the opportunity for error.
* **Sync delays** — batch integrations mean back-office teams work from data that is hours or days out of date, making it impossible to catch problems in real time.
* **Reconciliation burden** — finance teams spend significant time reconciling pay and billing figures that were calculated from different records in different systems.
* **Slow cash collection** — invoice errors caused by data mismatches extend days sales outstanding (DSO) and delay cash collection.
* **Compliance exposure** — compliance rules applied in one system are not automatically visible to teams working in another, creating gaps.

## How 2cloudnine unifies all three offices

2cloudnine runs front, middle, and back office functions inside a single Salesforce org. There is no integration to configure, no data to sync, and no batch process to wait for. When a recruiter closes a placement in the front office, the engagement details — worker type, rate card, billing arrangement, and compliance rules — are available instantly to the middle and back office.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Placement sets the terms">
    When your recruiter creates a placement, the commercial terms, engagement classification, compliance rule set, and billing arrangement are captured once — in Salesforce. Every downstream process references this single record.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Middle office validates in real time">
    When the worker submits a timesheet, 2cloudnine's compliance engine validates it against the rules set at placement — labor law thresholds, overtime, sick pay accruals, client contract conditions — before it advances to approval. Exceptions are flagged immediately, not discovered at payroll.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Back office processes from approved data">
    Payroll and invoicing run from time records that have already been validated and approved. There is no re-entry and no reconciliation — the figures your payroll team processes are the same figures your billing team invoices.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Reporting reflects the full picture">
    Because all three offices share one data model, your reports — margin by client, DSO by division, compliance exceptions by region — reflect the entire business in real time, not a snapshot from a recent export.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Because all three offices share one Salesforce data model, changes in one area are visible across the platform instantly. There is no batch sync to wait for and no integration to break.
</Note>

## Benefits by role

Different teams experience the platform differently. Select your role to see how a unified platform creates value for your part of the business.

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Executive">
    As an executive, you need visibility into margin, cost, and operational health across the business without waiting for finance to compile reports from multiple systems.

    2cloudnine gives you:

    * **Real-time margin visibility** across every engagement, client, and division — from the same data your finance and operations teams use.
    * **Reduced operational costs** — automation handles the transactional volume that would otherwise require additional headcount as your business grows.
    * **Protected margins** — compliance automation and margin monitoring flag risks before they affect your financials, not after.
    * **Eliminated silos** — a single data model means your executive reporting reflects what is actually happening in the business, not a reconciled approximation of it.
    * **Full auditability** — every pay, billing, and compliance decision is logged in Salesforce with a complete audit trail.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Finance">
    Finance teams in staffing spend a disproportionate amount of time reconciling pay against billing and correcting invoice errors before the books can close. 2cloudnine removes that work.

    2cloudnine gives you:

    * **Eliminated reconciliation** — pay and bill figures come from the same approved time record. There is nothing to reconcile between what you paid workers and what you invoiced clients.
    * **Reduced DSO** — invoices generated from validated data have fewer errors, which means clients have fewer reasons to dispute them and you collect cash faster.
    * **Improved cash flow** — faster, accurate billing means revenue moves from placed to collected more quickly across your book of business.
    * **Automated billing runs** — client invoices are generated directly from approved time, with client-specific billing rules applied automatically.
    * **ERP integration** — finalized payroll and invoice data pushes to your general ledger without manual export and re-entry.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Operations">
    Operations managers are responsible for keeping placements running, workers compliant, and clients satisfied — across a high volume of concurrent engagements.

    2cloudnine gives you:

    * **A unified placement-to-payment workflow** — data moves forward from placement through compliance to payroll and billing without handoffs, re-entry, or gaps.
    * **Real-time exception management** — compliance exceptions, timesheet anomalies, and approval backlogs surface in dashboards before they affect payroll or client relationships.
    * **Scalability without proportional headcount growth** — automation absorbs the transactional volume as your placement numbers grow, so your operational team stays focused on exceptions and relationships.
    * **Configurable workflows** — approval chains, timesheet rules, and notification logic are configured to match how your clients and workers actually operate, not forced into a generic process.
    * **VMS Connect** — for programs where clients use vendor management systems, requisitions and timesheets flow in automatically, eliminating manual data entry at the program boundary.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Payroll & Invoicing">
    Payroll and invoicing teams carry the highest accuracy burden in a staffing organization. Errors affect both worker trust and client relationships simultaneously.

    2cloudnine gives you:

    * **Pre-validated time data** — by the time a timesheet reaches payroll, 2cloudnine's compliance engine has already applied labor law rules, flagged exceptions, and obtained approval. Your team works from clean data, not raw submissions.
    * **Automated routine tasks** — standard payroll calculations, deduction processing, and invoice generation run automatically for straightforward records, so your team focuses on exceptions.
    * **Reduced time on payroll** — less time spent chasing missing timesheets, correcting rate errors, and reconciling pay against bill means faster payroll close and more time for higher-value work.
    * **Multi-engagement type support** — W2, 1099, PAYE, Umbrella, Limited Company, and SOW engagements are all supported within one system, so your team does not switch between platforms for different worker types.
    * **Eliminated incomplete or late data** — because time capture, compliance validation, and approval all happen in the same platform as payroll, the data your team needs is already there when you need it.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Sales">
    Sales and recruiting teams close more business when they can quote confidently and move placements through onboarding without waiting on back-office setup.

    2cloudnine gives you:

    * **Real-time margin visibility** — rate and margin calculations are built into the placement workflow, so you know your margin before you commit to a bill rate, not after the deal is closed.
    * **Commission tracking** — sales performance data is available directly in Salesforce, giving you and your managers visibility into commissions and forecasting in real time.
    * **Contractor portals** — workers have access to self-service portals for timesheet submission, document management, and communication, reducing the administrative burden on your recruiters and improving contractor retention.
    * **Instant placement setup** — the commercial terms you agree with a client carry automatically into payroll and billing. Your recruiter enters the deal once; the rest of the platform takes it from there.
    * **Forecasting from live data** — pipeline and revenue forecasts draw from the same Salesforce data as your operational records, so your numbers reflect actual placement activity.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Technology">
    Technology teams in staffing organizations are often asked to support a growing stack of disconnected tools. 2cloudnine replaces that complexity with a single, modern platform.

    2cloudnine gives you:

    * **A unified tech stack** — one platform replaces the patchwork of integrations between CRM, compliance tools, payroll systems, and billing platforms, reducing your integration surface and the failure points that come with it.
    * **Fast delivery of new capabilities** — because 2cloudnine runs on Salesforce, your team can configure new workflows, reports, and automations using Salesforce's declarative tooling without writing custom code or waiting on a vendor release cycle.
    * **Efficient innovation** — Salesforce Flow, approval processes, and custom objects let you adapt the platform to new business requirements quickly, using tools with broad documentation and a large talent market behind them.
    * **Standard APIs** — Salesforce REST and SOAP APIs let you connect 2cloudnine to any external system using widely understood integration standards.
    * **Sandbox-first development** — test every change in a Salesforce sandbox before promoting to production, using the same change management tooling that governs your entire Salesforce environment.
